for blue blue skies.

maybe not blue skies but the weather has been rather pleasant these last two days and BBC Weather (yes, i'm a dork. i check the weather everyday) forecasts a wonderful weekend ahead! this is especially uplifting since i'm off to London for the weekend and we all know it's a tad warmer down there, not to mention a much anticipated Lady Gaga concert on Saturday at the O2 Arena.

is this really the last weekend of February? is it already March next week? that leaves about a month and a half till all my assignment deadlines, two months till exams and three months till the end of Uni. i know i ask this all the time but seriously, where did the time go? my constant complaining, bitching and disliking this place; counting down the days till i am out of here and being so anxious about what lies ahead. at this moment, it's bittersweet. not so much me leaving Birmingham because believe me, i could not be happier about no longer rotting away in this pathetic excuse of a city (oh the number of brain cells i have lost!). it's an amalgam of several things. after having my life planned out for me for the last twenty-one years, i no longer have something waiting for me. it's daunting, hell yes. not knowing where i'm going, what i'm doing or my future. it's frustrating, yes. i must resort to the incredibly overused cliche; life is not easy.

but how wonderful would it be if it were?

sugar rush.

one bag of Asda milk chocolate cookies. one bag of Tesco milk chocolate cookies. one box of Asda milk chocolate chunk cookie mix. one box of Betty Crocker chocolate chip cookie mix. several bags of handmade chocolates. Hotel Chocolat Milky hot chocolate. one box of Godiva chocolates. one large red rose. that would sum up my weekend. yes, a sugar rush indeed.

you and me could write a
bad romance

i'm going to see Lady Gaga in London on Saturday!

valentine.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone ♥ it has been a beautifully crisp sunny day today; a perfect setting to celebrate the day of love. unfortunately, i have been stuck in Birmingham over a very dull Valentine's weekend. but it's lovely to see the celebrations going on everywhere and they have definitely lifted my spirits.

here is a very interesting article i came across on CNN about love and the bodily functions associated with it from a scientific point of view. but for the more hopeless romantics, i leave you with my favourite poem; Variations on the Word Sleep by Margaret Atwood

I would like to watch you sleeping,
which may not happen.
I would like to watch you,
sleeping. I would like to sleep
with you, to enter
your sleep as its smooth dark wave
slides over my head

and walk with you through that lucent
wavering forest of bluegreen leaves
with its watery sun & three moons
towards the cave where you must descend,
towards your worst fear

I would like to give you the silver
branch, the small white flower, the one
word that will protect you
from the grief at the center
of your dream, from the grief
at the center. I would like to follow
you up the long stairway
again & become
the boat that would row you back
carefully, a flame
in two cupped hands
to where your body lies
beside me, and you enter
it as easily as breathing in

I would like to be the air
that inhabits you for a moment
only. I would like to be that unnoticed
& that necessary.

effortlessly miranda.

it's no secret that i absolutely adore Miranda Kerr! i'm pretty much obsessed with her and one of my favourite things about her (other than her insane body) is her style. she owns one of the most effortlessly chic wardrobes i have ever seen (with a close contender being Nicole Richie but she's a tad too Bohemian for my fashion palette). i love the colours Miranda wears; mainly greys, blacks and pastels with occasional splashes of colour but always flattering her curves.

afternoon with snow.

there was a very random gust of snow fall this evening (following some sporadic and light snow showers earlier during the day), lasting for about ten minutes and totally distracting me from my already much neglected International Marketing Action Plan. having grown up in the tropics, snow will forever amaze me. for some reason Uni work seems to be like an obstacle; in the way of my life these days! i have zero motivation to work which is why my assignment was left till the very last hours before my meeting with my lecturer tomorrow. but i guess pressure makes me work?! this place truly sucks the life out of you. at least the snow offered me some positive amusement for a good few minutes today. otherwise, i have had a very slow week. are we almost halfway through February already? ridiculous!

social media targets consumers.

for my fellow marketing and advertising students, i came across this on CNN. a pretty interesting use of new media for businesses.

decisions, decisions.

i'm in a bit of a dilemma. i've been wanting a new day bag for a while now (preferably in a tan or brown colour). i fell in love with this pale ASOS bag i found yesterday AND came across this beautiful black Armani Exchange clutch (which also includes a gold strap; i know i know, the AX bag is more for the night). obviously one is more than double the price of the other but they're both so yum! i am being strict with myself though and only allowing myself to buy one of the two. what do you think? your advice is very much appreciated.

another world.

hello february.

when and where January slyly planned its escape, i have no idea. but it is a fresh new month of the new decade bringing us closer (hopefully) to the warmth of Spring. the first week of February ends tomorrow! again, whowhatwhere? this week has been painfully dull, especially after the wonderful time i had in London last week. it has also been quite cold! is Winter not over yet? my next two weeks consist of going to Uni, starting Uni assignments (my first assignment of this semester is due next Fri! ah!) and continuing with Graduate applications. sigh. not a fun two weeks! and of all places to be stuck doing tedious work, Birmingham is definitely the worst. if that won't make you want to kill yourself, i don't know what will!

buuuut! February is Valentine's month and i get to see Lady Gaga in London over the last weekend. little specks of light at the end of the tunnel? i think so. here's to a productive and promising new month.

speaking of be
ing productive, i ADD-ed from my CV editing, browsed around ASOS and came across this baby at a discounted £20! i heart sales but boy do i hate the temptations of ASOS and my new-found comfort with online shopping!

rather waste some time with you.

i had a lovely long weekend escape in London-town after finishing classes on Wednesday (before assignment deadlines start chasing after me). however, the sudden drop in temperature was not too pleasing after having such bearable weather last week; a weekend of icy winds and chills, but at least the sun was out. though London is never ugly, come rain or shine.

Wednesday consisted of dinner at Chiquitos in Leicester Square followed by watching Law Abiding Citizen in the smallest movie theater ever! i strolled around Oxford St for most of Thursday ending with an amazing Arabic feast at Levant (somewhere near Oxford Circus). Friday was more homely with tons of Friends DVDs and home-cooked Chinese and apple crumble with custard. a trip to Westfield took up most of my Saturday, completed by dinner at Wagamama. and finally a very lazy Sunday with me returning to Bham in the evening. i have been seriously slacking on my otherwise tourist-y trips to London. next on my list are: this Van Gogh exhibition going on at the Royal Academy of Arts and a visit to either Camden Market or Portobello Market. there are some beyond beautiful photos of Camden Market taken by my friend, Lily on her blog, convincing anyone to take a walk down its vintage streets!

Arabic goodness at Levant; the decor, the lighting, the food, everything was breathtaking!
